BOSS Auto Pressure Controller wired remote showing left and right air bag pressures

BOSS Auto Pressure Controller: In-Cab Air Bag Controller for Trucks

If you run a BOSS load assist kit, you know the routine. Pull over, walk to the back of the truck, find the Schrader valves, check each bag with a tire gauge, add air from a compressor hose or a gas station line, check again, and hope the left and right sides match. Then do it all again when you unhitch the trailer.

The BOSS Auto Pressure Controller ends that routine. It's an in-cab air bag controller, engineered by BOSS for BOSS load assist kits, that connects to the ARB compressor already on your vehicle. You raise or lower the pressure in each air bag from the driver's seat, see both pressures on a screen, and store your favorite settings so you can recall them in one press.

What the BOSS air bag controller does

The controller sits between your ARB compressor and your two BOSS air bags. Its integrated ECU control unit sends air to each bag through its own line, so the left and right bags are adjusted independently. You run it from a wired remote in the cab, or from a small wireless remote.

In practice, that means three things for you:

  • No more kneeling at the bumper. Adjust the bags from inside the cab, without a tire gauge or a hose.
  • Left and right, set separately. Level the truck side to side as well as front to back.
  • Your settings, saved. Three memory presets store the pressures you use most.

Two ways to control your air bags

The wired in-cab remote

The wired remote mounts in the cab on a 6 m cable. Its screen shows the pressure in the left and right bags side by side, so you can see at a glance whether the truck is even. Buttons 1, 2 and 3 recall your presets, and the up and down buttons adjust the bags.

The wireless remote

The pocket-sized wireless remote has four buttons: A and B raise the left and right bags, and C and D lower them. It's ideal when you're standing beside the truck, watching the hitch line up or checking the stance after you load the bed.

Three air pressure presets for towing, hauling and driving empty

Most trucks don't carry one load. They're empty on Monday, carrying a full tray on Wednesday and towing a camper on the weekend. Each of those needs a different air bag pressure, and getting it right by hand takes time.

With the controller, you set the pressure once for each situation and save it to a preset, for example:

  1. Unloaded: just enough air to keep the bags in shape, for a ride close to stock
  2. Towing: the pressure that levels the truck with your trailer hitched
  3. Full load: the pressure for a loaded bed or tray

Next time, you press 1, 2 or 3 and recall that setting instantly. No guessing, and no repeat trips to the back of the truck.

Why independent left and right air bag control matters

Loads are rarely perfectly centered. A toolbox on one side, a water tank in a camper, or a heavy pallet pushed to one corner can leave a truck sitting lower on one side. With a shared air line, both bags get the same pressure, and the lean stays.

Because the controller feeds each bag on its own line, you can add a little more air to the low side until the truck sits level. A level truck keeps your headlights where they should be, and it's what load assist kits are there to do: help your vehicle carry the load with stability and control.

A water trap to protect your air suspension

Compressing air squeezes out the moisture it carries. That water travels down the line toward your valves and bags. The controller kit includes a water trap and clamp that sit in the air line from the compressor, helping protect your compressor and air bags from moisture buildup for long-term reliability.

What's in the box

Going by BOSS's installation diagram for the controller, the kit includes:

  • Integrated ECU controller (the valve block that feeds each bag)
  • Wired remote with screen, on a 6 m cable
  • Wireless remote with four buttons
  • Water trap and clamp
  • 5 m of 1/4″ air line and 3 m of 3/8″ air line
  • Two T fittings, plus the fittings needed to connect the system

Not included: the ARB compressor, and the air bags themselves, which come in your separate BOSS load assist kit.

How the air bag controller connects to an ARB compressor

BOSS's diagram shows a straightforward layout:

  • Air in: the ARB compressor's Nitto coupling or braided line is removed and resealed into the supplied T fitting, and air runs through the water trap to the controller.
  • Air out: the controller feeds the A and B lines, one to each bag. The Schrader valves from your load assist kit stay in the lines on T fittings.
  • Power: the controller takes a 12V supply and an ignition 12V source, each through a 10 A fuse. The ARB compressor stays wired as per ARB's instructions.

Always follow the installation instructions supplied with the kit for the exact connections. If you'd rather have it fitted, a suspension or 4x4 shop can install it alongside your load assist kit.

Who it's for

The Auto Pressure Controller is made for drivers who already have, or are fitting, a BOSS load assist kit and an ARB compressor. It suits you best if you:

  • Tow a trailer, camper or boat and hitch and unhitch often
  • Carry loads that change from day to day, such as tools, equipment or a slide-in camper
  • Carry weight that isn't centered, and want to level side to side
  • Want to make adjustments on the road or trail, without stopping to find an air line

Don't have an ARB compressor?

The standalone controller is designed for ARB compressors. If you don't have one, we also sell Auto Pressure controller kits with a BOSS compressor included:

If you just want simple in-cab inflation with gauges and push buttons, our PX01 inflation kit with in-cab control starts at $249. See all options in air bag compressor kits.

Air bag controller FAQ

Does the BOSS air bag controller include a compressor?

No. The standalone controller connects to your ARB compressor. If you need a compressor as well, choose one of the controller kits with a PX01 or PX06 included.

Can I still fill the air bags through the Schrader valves?

Yes. In BOSS's diagram, the Schrader valves from your load assist kit stay in the air lines on T fittings.

Does it work with other air bags or compressors?

It's designed for BOSS load assist kits and ARB compressors. For any other setup, contact us before you order and we'll tell you what fits.

How many air pressure presets can I save?

Three. Each preset stores your pressure settings, and you recall it with buttons 1, 2 or 3 on the wired remote.

Can I adjust the left and right air bags separately?

Yes. The controller feeds each bag on its own line, and the wired and wireless remotes both raise and lower each side independently.

Take control of your load

You fitted a BOSS load assist kit so your truck can carry and tow with confidence. The Auto Pressure Controller makes that kit effortless to use every day: the right pressure on each side, set from the driver's seat, in one press.
